NCV Engineering Practice Maintenance Level 3

Engineering Practice Maintenance Level 3 builds on the foundational skills introduced in Level 2 and focuses on developing practical maintenance knowledge and safe workshop practices used in engineering environments. The course equips learners with the skills required to inspect, maintain and operate basic engineering equipment while following correct safety procedures.

Learners are introduced to maintenance principles used in mechanical workshops and industrial environments. The course covers topics such as grinding and sharpening tools, safe operation of drilling machines, correct use of workshop equipment, routine maintenance practices and proper housekeeping procedures. Learners also develop the ability to identify hazards, apply safety precautions and maintain equipment in a safe and organised manner.

A strong emphasis is placed on workplace safety, correct tool handling and understanding how poor maintenance practices can affect machine performance and worker safety. Learners learn how to recognise faults, follow correct operating procedures and apply basic problem-solving skills when performing maintenance tasks.

Through theoretical knowledge and practical activities, learners develop the competence to support maintenance activities in engineering workshops and manufacturing environments. The course also prepares learners for further progression in engineering programes and entry-level roles in maintenance-related fields within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
